During the pile-driving activities for the Deutsche Bucht wind farm, the FaunaGuard system was first deployed.
Northland Power owns this wind farm. Van Oord was the Balance of Power (BoP). In other words, they were responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter-array cables, offshore substation and as well for the transport of the wind turbines.
The wind farm consists of 31 wind turbines that produce 252 megawatts of renewable energy. In other words, they supply 300.000 households of sustainable energy. During the pile-driving activities, the FaunaGuard system was deployed by Van Oord for the first time. The system includes a Hydro Sound Damper (HSD) and a double Big Bubble Curtain and is used to minimise the impact on the environment and marine fauna.
