The Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm will be the largest subsidy-free offshore wind farm in Europe.
The project is owned by Vattenfall and Van Oord, our client, is responsible for the cable laying. They will connect the two offshore platforms (HKZ Alpha and Beta) with the Maasvlakte substation and the Souther ring of the Randstad network. In order to do so, Van Oord has designed and built the Deep Dig-It trencher for this particular project.
When finished, the wind farm will consist of 140 wind turbines that are subdivided into four parcels. Those wind turbines will generate enough energy to power 2.000.000 households.
